One year when I was young there was an exceptoinal number of cicadas and their constant buzzing could easily be heard from indoors with all the windows closed. The noise was everywhere but the source seemed to be nowhere. I was so frustrated I could only find a handful of the bugs while the rest were hidden somewhere in the trees. I "jokingly" suggested that burning down the trees might help.

Hee hee. When I was an ankle biter, we used to run around collecting the shells from the trees.
ReplyDeleteMy sister was terrified of cicadas and everything to do with them.
This gave me many well-spent opportunities to collect the shells and hide them around the house. She quickly came to hate summer.
